Instructions:
- Perform a backup of your Oracle Calendar data. To perform a backup of your data, you will need to have Oracle Calendar desktop client currently installed on your machine. If you do not have a desktop client installed, you can obtain it from the Downloads page.
- Open your desktop Oracle Calendar program.
- Click on File-->Export Data.
- Highlight vCalendar file and click Continue.
- Select the date range you wish to export.
- Click the Browse button and give the file a name and location.
- Click OK.
- Make sure you have performed a synchronization before installing Oracle Calendar Sync. Leave your device in its cradle during the installation process.
- If you have a prior version of Oracle Calendar Sync (CorporateSync) installed, uninstall it.
- Go to the Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Programs.
- Find the listing for Oracle Calendar Sync or Corporate Time Calendar Sync and highlight it.
- Select Remove.
- Go to the Downloads page and click on 'PocketPC Sync' to open the installer file. This is a zip file which contains the application file and the readme document. Windows XP has a built-in capability for unzipping zip files. If you are installing to an earlier version of Windows, you will need to use a program such as WinZip (http://www.winzip.com/), WinRAR (http://www.rarlab.com/) or PowerArchiver (http://www.powerarchiver.com/).
- Double click the executable file to run the installer. The executable file will be named 'cal_syncppc_win.exe' with the version number in the file name. Once you double click on the file, the installer will begin extracting files.
- Choose either Complete or Custom install and click Next.
- Click Install.
- Make sure you install Oracle Calendar Sync Helper files when prompted. Your device must be connected to install these files.
- Click Finish.
- After a few seconds, Oracle Calendar Sync for Pocket PC should open. Enter your Oracle Calendar User Information and Server Information. The NCSU server is 'calendar.ncsu.edu'. If you are not in a college-specific node, then you should use the 'ncsu' node.
- You can change the Date Book, To Do List, and Address Book settings (such as Date Range) at this point also. You will want to make sure and check the Rules setting, specifically for all three items, and make sure that you have 'Replace mobile device item with calendar server item' selected.
- NOTE: By default, the Sync application only pulls in Date Book and To Do items one week into the past and future. If you want a greater date range, you can change it now. Of course, you can always change any of theses settings later by going to Start Menu --> Programs --> Oracle Calendar Sync for Pocket PC--> Settings.
- If the installer prompts you to reboot your machine at this point, go ahead and reboot. If it does not, then do the following:
- Remove your device from its cradle.
- Open ActiveSync. Select File-->Delete Partnership.
- Return your device to the cradle. ActiveSync Partnership Wizard should now start.
- Create a new ActiveSync Partnership. Select Oracle Calendar as your plug-in for Calendar, Tasks and Contacts.
- Open ActiveSync and perform a synchronization.
